“something”

Many of us have been wringing our hands. Cursing. Pacing. And praying about what’s happening to our beloved Gulf Coast. Wishing we could just do something.

This is the something a few of us decided to do.

These stickers belong on the vehicles of both Red State and Blue Dot folks. After all, the coast belongs to all of us. Blame, fury and responsibility do too. We hope that this sticker will represent us as a people united by heartbreak - as well as determination.

And we hope the dollars collected and contributed will help rescue, rebuild. And restore.

We know it’s a drop in the ocean. But it’s something.

Other somethings you can do:

  • 1. SPEAK Call your congressman or senator contactingthecongress.org. Ask them what the federal government is doing to clean up this mess and prevent it from ever happening again. Tell them you want real attention given to alternative fuel and energy issues NOW. And tell them to send any Big Oil lobbyist packing.
  • 2. SHARE Our stickers come in set of five for a reason: we believe everyone - of every political stripe - should have one on their cars. The more visible we are in our disapproval of what has happened - and what tragically continues to happen EVERY day in our coastal waters - the more likely our elected officials are to take note. And to take action. They work for us, after all. They must be reminded of what we want. Whether they’re hearing from us at their offices - or seeing us beside them on the road.
  • 3. VOLUNTEER Even though BP is controlling the clean-up effort, various Gulf Coast state organizations are still in need. Get in touch with the group nearest you to see how you can help—safely and effectively. http://www.saveourgulf.org/about-us/waterkeepers
  • 4. CHANGE Just once a week, carpool. Walk. Or ride a bike. Commit to drinking fewer bottled sodas. Use fewer baggies. And ask a teacher to help educate the next generation. fuelourfuturesnow.com Every thing, large and small, helps. We must get serious. Our dependence on oil is the economic motivator. If it stops, so does drilling.
